CLAIM
A photo of Zaira Wasim is being shared on social media with the claim that she had quit acting earlier this year, on 1 July, citing that acting was coming between her and her religion and has returned on 9 September since ‘no religion is bigger than money’.
WHAT IS THE TRUTH?
The claim being made is false. Wasim had quit acting on 30 June this year and her statement is pinned on her Twitter account.
The photo of her on a beach with other co-stars is old and from the last leg of the shoot for the film ‘The Sky Is Pink’, from 1 March to 12 March. The director of the film had posted on Instagram that the last dates of the shoot would be these.
WHAT WE FOUND OUT
We checked the Instagram account of the co-stars during the last days of the shoot.
On 9 March, co-star Rohit Saraf uploaded a photo with Zaira Wasim. In the photo, Wasim can be seen wearing the same outfit as the one in the photo currently being circulated.
Priyanka Chopra, the other co-star, had uploaded a video on 7 March. In the video, Farhan Akhtar and Rohit Saraf are wearing the same outfit as they are wearing in the photo being shared with Wasim.
Again on 7 March, Priyanka Chopra shared a photo with other co-stars. In the photo, Priyanka, Farhan and Rohit are wearing the same outfit. Zaira Wasim is also tagged in the photo and she can be seen sitting at the back wearing the same hat.
In the post below, the actors can be seen in the same outfits as the photo being circulated, but from a different profile. It was posted by the actors and the director on 24 July.
Since old Instagram posts of the co-stars show the actors in the same outfits and the same background, it confirms that Zaira is not promoting the film now, but that these are old photos from the last leg of the film’s shooting. ‘The Sky Is Pink’ is her last film and was last shot in March before she quit acting.
