After casting his vote on Sunday, 11 March, UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said that his party would win both the seats.
"On 14 March, when the votes are counted, the Bua-Bhatija (Mayawati-Akhilsh Yadav) will suffer another sad jolt," he said.

The voter turnout for the by-election to Phulpur was 37.39 percent, with 22 candidates contesting from the Lok Sabha constituency.
According to the Election Commission, there are 19.61 lakh voters in Phulpur parliamentary constituency. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Kaushalendra Singh Patel against the Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Nagendra Pratap Singh. The Congress has fielded Manish Mishra.
An Election Commission official said all arrangements have been made for the counting of votes to the Phulpur Lok Sabha seat on Wednesday, 14 March, and the results are expected to the declared by afternoon.
With 38 percent voter turnout, the bypoll was necessitated after Keshav Prasad Maurya vacated the Lok Sabha seat after taking over as deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.
The BJP has an early lead after initial rounds of counting for the Phulpur Lok Sabha seat, reported CNN News18.
Nagendra Singh Patel of the Samajwadi Party has a lead over the BJP’s Kaushalendra Singh Patel in Phulpur Lok Sabha seat by 1, 399 votes. Congress’ Manish Mishra is trailing on the third spot with 88 votes in UP bypoll.

In the 17th round of counting, the SP margin widens by 30,175 votes, with Nagendra Pratap Singh leading with 1,91,014 votes. BJP's Kaushlendra Singh Patel is trailing second with 1,60,839 votes polled.
Though the final results for Phulpur and Gorakhpur bypolls haven’t been declared yet, Trinamool Congress chief and Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee congratulated the SP and BSP for their lead over the BJP.
After the 20th round of counting, the SP is leading by 29,474 votes, with Nagendra Pratap Singh leading with 2,18,963 votes. BJP's Kaushlendra Singh Patel is trailing second with 1,89,489 votes polled.
“We didn't expect that the BSP's vote will be transferred to the SP in such a manner. We will analyse after seeing the final results and prepare for a situation in future when the BSP, SP and Congress come together. We also have to plan our strategy for winning the 2019 elections,” KP Maurya, Deputy CM of Uttar Pradesh, told ANI.
After 25th round of counting, SP’s Nagendra Pratap Singh is leading by 38,498 votes having garnered a total of 2,71,752 votes. BJP’s Kaushlendra Singh Patel is second with 2,33,254 votes.
After the 26th round of counting in Phulpur, the SP has a lead of 39,681 votes, with the party having polled 2,81,445 votes. The BJP trails with 2,41,764 votes.
Congress president Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to congratulate the winning candidates in the bypolls.
With the Samajwadi Party leading in both the Gorakhpur and the Phulpur Lok Sabha seats, party leader Ram Govind Chaudhary met BSP supremo Mayawati in Lucknow.
After the 28th round of counting, SP’s Nagendra Pratap Singh is leading by 47,351 votes, with the party having polled 3,05,172 votes. The BJP trails with 2,57,821 votes.
Speaking after winning the Phulpur bypoll, SP candidate Nagendra Singh Patel told the media:
Calling the Gorakhpur and Phulpur Lok Sabha bypoll results a “lesson”, UP CM Yogi Adityanath cited over-confidence and the inability to understand the understanding between SP and BSP as prime reasons for the BJP’s defeat.
The fact that the BJP lost both the seats was a reason for review, the chief minister said, as reported by PTI.
He went on to say:
The chief minister said local issues led to the party's poor performance in the bypolls, and not the policies of the Centre, it was further reported by PTI.
He noted that local issues dominated and voter turnout was also low.
The BJP failed to bring “acche din,” owing to which the public united to bring ‘bure din’ (bad days) for the party.
“The public will give an answer to a government which would make them suffer,” he asserted.
Akhilesh attributed the SP win to the support from Dalits, farmers, labourers, women and unemployed, calling it a victory of social justice.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah congratulated the SP and the BSP for the “historic victory” in the UP bypolls, saying that the “unity among non-BJP parties played a key role”.
He also slammed Yogi Adityanath, saying, perhaps he “should spend less time lecturing Karnataka on development.”
