Days after a charge sheet was filed against the five activists arrested on 6 June for their alleged role in the Bhima-Koregaon clashes, Maharashtra police told The Quint that they had “solid evidence” against the accused.

Suhas Bavche, DCP, Pune Zone 1, told The Quint that they had submitted the charge sheet after checking the confiscated electronic devices from the accused.

Bavche claimed that the charge sheet mentions that Rosa Wilson was involved in collecting explosives and weapons for a plot to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Additionally, it lists evidence against lawyer Surendra Gadling and activist Shoma Sen for accepting Rs 5 lakh to incite violence.

Bavche told The Quint that the charge sheet includes one particular speech made at the event – “Agar bagawat na ho toh shahr ko jalakar raakh kar do” (if there is no rebellion, set the city on fire).

The charge sheet mentions that letters recovered had focus on “bringing Dalits, women, individuals of different nationalities, and minority communities together”. Further, another letter stated, “The anger against the BJP and the Sangh’s Brahmin-centric agenda will be used to gather people and ruin the situation.”
