Can our right to liberty be breached because of a social media post? That’s been the question about freelance journalist Prashant Kanojia’s arrest over a social media post where he had shared a video of a woman telling reporters that she wishes to marry Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
On 11 June, the Supreme Court ordered Kanojia’s immediate release after his wife filed a petition against his judicial custody. But most importantly, the SC didn't appreciate how Kanojia was put into judicial custody over his Facebook post.
