Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set up a good start-up for BJP president Amit Shah’s son, even while failing to provide opportunities for the youth in country, said Congress President Rahul Gandhi, on the third day of his North Karnataka rally.

While addressing a tribal rally in Devadurga, in Raichur district, Gandhi said several small businesses have been shut down because of demonetisation and the Goods and Services Tax (GST). But, one business has grown exponentially from Rs 50,000 to Rs 80 crore – Amit Shah’s son, Jay Shah’s company.

“Modi ji, if you are talking about corruption, you should talk about Amit Shah’s son’s business as well. You ask the youth to be entrepreneurs, but you don’t give them opportunities. But, for your friend Amit Shah’s son, you have set up a good start-up,” said Gandhi.

Looking at Increasing Reservation from 50-70%: CM Siddaramaiah

Speaking after Rahul Gandhi at the tribal rally, the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the government will propose to increase the reservation for Scheduled Tribes (ST) and the total reservation in the state based on the caste census data.

Siddaramaiah spelt out details from the yet to be released Caste Census Data of the state, for the first time. “The total SC population is 17.5% and the total ST population is 6.95%. That is a total of 24.1%. But you are getting only 18% reservation,” Siddaramaiah said.

Karnataka has a reservation of 15% for SC and 3% for ST, which the chief minister said should be increased to 7%.

He also added that the state will propose increasing the total reservations in jobs from 50% to 70% based on the caste census data.

‘Modi is a Batsman Who Bats While Looking at the Keeper’

Continuing his attack on the prime minister’s speech in the parliament, where Modi emphasised on events of the past, Gandhi said Modi is like a batsman who bats looking at the wicket keeper.

“If Sachin Tendulkar would have batted looking at the wicket-keeper, could he have scored a single run? Our prime minister is such a cricketer who looks at the wicket-kepeer and does not know where the ball is coming from,” he said, reported NDTV.

Modi, who has a habit of looking back, should look to his left and right while addressing rallies, added Gandhi. "Modi ji you talk of corruption. On one side is Yeddyurappa who had been to the jail, on the other side, there are as many as four former ministers who went to jail, and behind – 11 of the leaders who had to resign on charges of corruption," he added.
