CBI Botched up Fodder Scam Probe, RJD Alleges After Lalu Convicted

RJD spokesperson Manoj Jha, addressing a press conference on Saturday, expressed his disapproval of the special CBI court's verdict that pronounced Lalu Prasad Yadav guilty in the second fodder scam case.

Questioning the credibility of the CBI probe, Manoj Jha said that "legally admissible evidence provided by us was set aside."

He also alleged that the "regime" is attempting to scare them but they will fight back with the “kind of evidence” they have.

The kind of evidences we have, we will get redressal at a higher court. Politically I know this regime, they have this typical standard operating procedure – try to make a deal with your opposition, if you fail... scare them. I want to tell them – your end has begun.

Lalu and 14 Others Found Guilty, 7 Acquitted

Former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad was on Saturday convicted in a fodder scam case by a special CBI court.

Former Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra as well as six others were acquitted in the case, reported IANS.

According to the Special CBI judge Shivapal Singh’s ruling, the quantum of punishment will be announced on 3 January.

The case relates to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 84.5 lakh from Deoghar district treasury, reported IANS. Hearing was completed on December 13 in a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court of Ranchi. In all, there were 34 accused in the case, out whom 11 died during the course of the trial, while one turned CBI approver and admitted the crime.
