In yet another swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on 24 January asked if the PM brought back any black money on his plane while returning from the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.

Taking to Twitter, Gandhi also said that the PM should have explained to his audience in Davos why one percent of India's population has 73 percent of its wealth.

In the tweet addressed to the prime minister ahead of his speech at WEF, Gandhi tagged a news report quoting an Oxfam survey that the richest 1 percent cornered 73 percent of wealth generated in India in 2017.

Gandhi has been critical of the prime minister over his frequent foreign visits and has accused him of failing to deliver on his poll promises. The Congress chief has repeatedly alleged that the government was working only to benefit the rich.

BJP spokesman GVL Narsimha Rao replied to Gandhi with a sharp retort in a tweet of his own.

Another BJP spokesperson, Sambit Patra, said that Modi’s working to “attract investment to India.”
