Elections for a new Congress President will be held between 21 August 2022 and 20 September 2022, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said on Saturday, 16 October, after a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) in Delhi.
A team of new office-bearers will also be reportedly elected next year.
"We're going for a massive training program from top to bottom. Workers and leaders at all levels will be trained in party ideologies, policies, expectations of a Congress worker, grassroots messaging, election management, failure of present government and countering propaganda."KC Venugopal, as per ANI
Venugopal added that the party passed three resolutions during the meet — one on the present political situation, one on inflation, and one on the 'acute agrarian distress and diabolical attack on India's farmers', respectively, news agency ANI reported.
Sonia Gandhi has been the party's interim President since Rahul Gandhi's resignation in 2019.
Addressing the concerns raised by party workers, Sonia Gandhi had said on Saturday that she was the "full-time and hands-on Congress President".
"I am, if you will allow me to say so, a full-time and hands on Congress President," she said while addressing the CWC meeting earlier in the day
She was responding to questions raised by a group of leaders led by Kapil Sibal over the party's decision-making process and apprehending that former President Rahul Gandhi is taking all the decisions.
