Day after a teenager fired at anti-CAA protesters near New Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia on Thursday, 30 January, Rahul Gandhi questioned who “paid” the Jamia shooter.

Asked by reporters to comment on the incident as he was entering Parliament, Gandhi said, “Who paid the Jamia shooter?”

On Thursday, 30 January, Gandhi had tweeted a quote from Mahatma Gandhi, “I cannot teach you violence, as I do not believe in it. I can only teach you not to bow your heads before anyone, even at the cost of your life.”

Jamia Firing: ‘What’s Happening?’ Kejriwal Retort to Shah’s Tweet

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal went on the offensive against Home Minister Amit Shah on Twitter.

Shah initially tweeted directing Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik to take the “strictest action” on the incident.

"I have spoken to the Delhi Police Commissioner on the incident of firing in Delhi and have directed him to take strictest action," he said in the tweet.

Soon after, Kejriwal quoted Shah’s tweet asking him take care of the "deteriorating" law and order situation in the capital.

"What is happening in Delhi? The law and order is deteriorating. Please take care of Delhi's law and order," Kejriwal said in the tweet.

Owaisi to Priyanka, Politicians Condemn Incident

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi hit out at Delhi Police after photos of injured youth having to climb over barricades allegedly on his way to hospital started getting circulated.

The CPI(M) said that the attack was a fallout of the "hate speech" by Union Ministers and BJP leaders during the Delhi Assembly poll campaign.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi also echoed CPI(M)'s view saying the incident was a result of leaders inciting crowds with incendiary slogans and asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to answer whether he stands with violence or with non-violence.

Former UPA minister Kapil Sibal also took to twitter to say that BJP is a party and it is not the nation. “We are with the nation, we are not with you. You are only government and your party is not the nation,” he said.
