While the guessing game continues on whether superstar Rajinikanth will take the much awaited political plunge, the actor said he was in no hurry to enter politics or start a political party. His birthday, coming up on 12 December, brings a lot of anticipation on the question.

Many fans and friends close to Rajini have said that we can expect a big announcement, but the star has clarified that he will meet fans only after his birthday.

Rajinikanth was returning from a pilgrimage visit to Mantralayam in Andhra Pradesh to the Chennai airport and that’s when media persons quizzed him about his future plans.

Now that Kamal Haasan has confirmed that he is in the political arena for sure, all eyes are on Rajinikanth, who enjoys a massive fan following in South India.

Rajinikanth Biggest Superstar Of India (RBSI), one of the largest fan groups spread out all over the world, vouches that if he waves the green flag, lakhs of fans will throng the streets outside his house and willingly turn into party workers.

Though the talk has been going on for over a decade now, the speculations went wild after Rajinikanth addressed his fans twice in mid-May, indicating that if God so wished, he could take up another role.

If there is a situation where I have to enter politics, I will never let such people (who are interested in politics for money) even come near me.

Despite his huge fan base, he is surely aware of his status as an outsider in Tamil Nadu because of his Kannadiga roots, and during the fans meet, he had even emphasised his Thamizhness, perhaps as a counterpoint to the caste-dominated politics of Tamil Nadu.

If He Does Enter Politics, What Will Be Rajinikanth's Colour?

Much of Rajini's political outreach could happen courtesy the BJP, and many are betting on the effects the Narendra Modi- Rajinikanth combination could have. Any alliance with the AIADMK faction headed by Sasikala and her nephew TTV Dhinakaran is definitely ruled out. Let us recall that the late chief minister supposedly lost the 1996 elections because of his remarks.
