Atiq Ahmed murder live updates: The bodies of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were buried in Prayagraj on Sunday, 16 April.
The two were shot dead by three assailants while being taken for medical examination. The alleged attackers, identified as Lavlesh Tiwari (22), Mohit alias Shani Purane (23) and Arun Kumar Maurya (18), were sent to 14-day judicial custody.
The murder was caught on live television as Atiq and Ashraf were talking to reporters when the firing took place.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered for a probe by a three-member judicial committee, which will submit its report within two months.
The police have arrested Lavlesh Tiwari, Mohit alias Shani Purane and Arun Kumar Maurya and have also filed an FIR in the case.

Reacting to the murder of Atiq Ahmed and his brother, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was quoted as saying, "For how long the country can be run by managing things...there's punishment for every crime in the law. The incident is raising many questions."
'Opposition's Vote Bank Politics': Union Minister
After comments by Tejashwi Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, and other opposition leaders, Union Minister RK Singh on Wednesday said that, "they are in search of vote-bank politics that's why they are shedding tears."

'Assailants Shifted to Pratapgarh District Jail': Police
UP police on Monday said that the three shooters, Arun Maurya, Sunny Singh and Lavlesh Tiwari, were transferred to District Jail in Pratapgarh from Prayagraj jail.
'102 Cases on Atiq Ahmed': Police
UP police said that a total of 102 cases were registered against Atiq Ahmed, while 54 cases were registered against his brother Ashraf, reported news agency ANI.
