“I won’t trade humanity for patriotism,” wrote Pakistani journalist Sheyr Mirza on Facebook, along with a photo of her holding ‘I condemn Pulwama terrorist attack’ placard.

With her post, she encouraged people on social media to join the #AntiHateChallenge to condemn the terrorist attack that killed 40 CRPF jawans in Pulwama, located in India’s Jammu and Kashmir.

The terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed, whose founder Masood Azhar lives in Pakistan, has claimed responsibility for the Pulwama attack, which is dubbed as the deadliest attacks in recent history. This has subsequently led to mounting tension between India and Pakistan.

Quoting Indian poet and lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi, Mirza wrote:

“Whether blood be ours or theirs, Its the blood of humankind.

Whether wars be waged in the east or west, It is the murder of world-peace.

Whether houses be bombed or borders, The temple of the Soul is wounded.

War is a problem itself. How will war resolve problems?

Today it will rain fire and blood, Tomorrow, hunger and scarcity.”

Floating the hashtags #AntiHateChallenge #WeStandWithIndia #NoToWar #CondemnPulwamaAttack, in a post on the Facebook group Aman Ki Asha, Mirza urged her fellow Pakistani citizens to speak out against terrorism and stand in solidarity with their Indian friends.

“We’re deeply disturbed over the tragic terror attack that claimed innocent lives in Kashmir. We have initiated this #AntiHateChallenge to not only condemn the attack but also express solidarity with our Indian friends. Requesting Pakistani fellows, who share our feelings to please, join in.”
