Kerala police has got a humanoid ‘robocop’ to perform front desk duties, making it the first police department in the country to use a robot for police work.

That’s right friends, Kerala police is not just leaping technologically but is also hoisting the women empowerment flag with gusto.

Visitors of the Thiruvananthaprum headquarters will be greeted by KP-BOT which has been developed by Kerala Police’s Cyberdome.

Women empowerment and gender equality were kept in mind while deciding on the gender of the first robot. Also, the fact that most front office jobs are managed by women was considered.

According to News 18, the robot has the ability to greet officers through it’s stellar face recognition ability. It will also create case files on complaints and petitions by connecting officers concerned with the matter through Skype!

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday inaugurated the humanoid police robot at the police headquarters in the state.

At present, about four persons are required to do the front office duty. Now, it would be managed by the KP-BOT.
