What happens when Google Doodle decides to join the bandwagon to celebrate International Women’s Day?
Well, it reaches out to 12 different female artists from different parts of the world, and creates a visual compilation of their unheard stories through doodles. So what are these doodles about?
Well, these artists have come forward to share their personal stories and their source of inspiration, which can be anything from an individual to a place or even an event. The doodles have also been translated into 80 different languages for women all over the world.
The tech giant explained that it wanted to celebrate the stories and voices of a group of extraordinary women — the everyday women living all over the world to mark the International Women's Day of 2018.
So let’s take a look at some of the panels that perfectly captures the spirit of this day.
And Google did not forget India while telling the stories of these extraordinary women, who have been fighting with their own daily struggles. Kaveri Gopalakrishnan, an independent illustrator from Bengauluru, had her story featured as well in today’s Google Doodle. Her story is about a young girl who reads books on her rooftop, and while reading, her feathers grow with every book she reads, until she is finally ready to take flight.
In an interview to Firstpost, Gopalakrishnan said,"When the Google team sent in the brief — which was 'Growth' — I had an immediate picture of a small creature growing into a large, strong and mysterious being after feeding off books."
The tech giant didn’t stop with doodles to celebrate this day. It has also encouraged women across the world to share their own stories using #HerStoryOurStory.
So Happy Women’s Day and three cheers to all the women out there whose stories remain unheard!
