Mumbaikars Unhappy With BMC’s New Fine Policy on Parking

Many Mumbai residents took to Twitter after BMC issued the notification.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) introduced new parking norms in Mumbai to curb illegal parking in the city. The newly issued fines range from Rs 5,000 to Rs 23,000 and will be applied near public parking lots (PPL).

“For four wheelers and heavy vehicles, the fine will be Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively,” a civic official was quoted as saying in a report by The Indian Express.

Many Mumbaikars took to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction with the new regulations.

Very disappointed with Mumbai Traffic.
Unnecessarily charging Fine for No Parking offense, where I couldn't see any "No Parking Sign".Mumbai Traffic even charged me,when I parked my Scooter near my Own Building.
Please take some action.

Appreciate the cause, but it's just too harsh on Vehicle owners.

Reasons:
1) No proper awareness signboards about the parking options

2) Not enough awareness about the start of this drive.

3) BMC should also fine contractors for shoddy roads

Has the govt ensured enough parking lots in the city?

This will lead to following outcomes-

1. Malls etc will increase parking charges 2-3x.
2. Uber, Ola will also significantly increase rates.
