In a major move ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, the Union Cabinet on Monday, 7 January approved a job and education quota for "economically weaker" sections in the general category, meeting a key demand of the BJP support base which is seen as drifting away from the party. The bill is to be discussed during the winter session of the Parliament ending 9 January.
