The end of BJP-PDP alliance in Kashmir has major political significance. I will call it a well-played political stroke by Amit Shah. Let’s analyse the impact this will have on the upcoming elections.
It is a well-known fact that Kashmir is one of the hotspots in Indian political arena. Now, BJP will try to use this factor for political gains. By ending its alliance with PDP, the BJP will play the nationalist card by directly blaming PDP for all the issues in Kashmir.
It will portray itself as a party with no tolerance towards violence and terrorism.
BJP spokespersons will hail it a political sacrifice, and accuse the PDP of not allowing it to fight terrorism in the Valley.
BJP is a smart political party and will not break any alliance at crucial period such as this one, when the NDA is going through so much friction. They will try to gain political brownie points by playing on the sentiments of people.
Our soldiers will, once again, be dragged into the political debates; Pakistan will once again become the scapegoat. Real issues will be pushed behind by the debates on nation, nationalism, and patriotism.
The BJP-PDP alliance has done nothing to improve the situation in Kashmir and the BJP definitely will not go into the 2019 general elections with its failed policies in Kashmir. Now, they will cross their arms and turn a blind eye to the situation in Kashmir, but it will be interesting to see how they will explain the deteriorating situation at the LOC. Buckle up for the big political drama ahead.
