Stenzan Kunzan, the principal of Druk Padma Karpo School in Ladakh wants to clarify once and for all that the famous ‘Idiotic Wall’ from Aamir Khan’s film 3 Idiots is not being razed.
A few weeks back, media reported that the wall was being razed and there could be a ban on tourist entry into the school as it distracted the students. However, the school has rubbished the reports.
“The media misquoted me and published that the famous ‘Rancho Wall’ is being razed. All I want to say is that we have just replicated the wall within the range of 100m within the campus. The wall is still the same. With the same fervour, everything is the same. It’s for the public to see. It’s always open for the public,” said Kunzan.
But what was the issue with the ‘Idiotic Wall’?
“It really disturbs us in academics. They use our toilets. They click our photos without our permission.”Tsewang Thungsket, Student
A teacher, Tashi, said:
“The children get distracted when the tourists move from one place to another within the school premises. There is so much noise and tourists also purposely peep into the classrooms and cause disturbance. At times, some tourists also enter the classrooms without taking any permission.”
But now that a replica of the wall has been built, all are happy.
The management has taken a wise decision to make a replica of the wall within the campus premises. This makes it easier for the tourists to visit and view the ‘Rancho Wall’, and the school can continue to be called the ‘Rancho school’.Tashi, Teacher
