Utsav Chakraborty, a YouTuber and comedian, has been accused of sending sexually explicit messages to women, especially minor girls. He was also a regular collaborator with All India Bakchod (AIB), a popular comedy group known for its videos and web series. AIB also regularly publishes videos that debunk patriarchy and the comedians associated with the group are known to be ‘woke’ with a sense of purpose.

AIB had also released a statement on Thursday condemning Utsav Chakraborty’s alleged behaviour. Until further clarity on the matter is obtained, they have also decided to delist all the AIB videos that Chakraborty was a part of.

On Friday, 5 October, AIB put out a statement apologising for the incident.

What They Said Earlier

It started when Utsav Chakraborty tweeted a condemnation of ‘Indian men’s behavior’ on-board a cruise.

A Twitter user called him out and listed the number of times Chakraborty had displayed sexually inappropriate behaviour with women. This tweet was met with #MeToo stories of women coming out with accusations detailing how they were subjected to unsolicited sexually explicit messages by him.

Another user also criticised a group of ‘very popular’ comedians who allegedly did nothing when she raised an alarm with them about Chakraborty’s behaviour.

Several comedians have called out Chakraborty as well. However, no formal complaint has been filed yet.

The Quint independently tried to reach out to Utsav Chakraborty but he did not respond to our queries. We will update this piece as soon as we get a statement from him.
