Modi Sworn-In as PM; 57 Ministers, Including Amit Shah Take Oath

Among those attending are Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Arvind Kejriwal and K Chandrashekar Rao.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, soon after taking oath for his second term, said that his new cabinet of ministers is the perfect mix of youthful energy and administrative experience. In a tweet, PM Modi said that his cabinet has people who have excelled as Parliamentarians and those who have had distinguished professional careers.

A total of 58 ministers were sworn-in as part of the new Council of Ministers, with Amit Shah making an entry into the Cabinet. Among other notable politicians sworn-in as part of the Cabinet are Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Sadananda Gowda, Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani, Ravi Shankar Prasad and former foreign secretary S Jaishankar.

Among those who are not part of the Council are Sushma Swaraj (who did not contest the elections), Suresh Prabhu, Jayant Sinha and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.

Who All Are Not Part of the Council of Ministers?

Among those who were ministers in the first Modi government, but did not take oath this time around are Suresh Prabhu, Jayant Sinha, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Apna Dal's Anupriya Patel.

Former Health Minister JP Nadda was also not on the list, amid speculations that he might become the president of BJP.
