In an exclusive video interview to The Quint, Nikhil Dadhich, the Twitter user who was criticised for posting an abusive tweet following Gauri Lankesh’s murder, has said that he didn’t want to offend anyone and that he didn’t even know who Gauri Lankesh was.

A trader in Surat, Dadhich defended his tweet by saying that it was a ‘normal’ tweet which was linked to Lankesh’s murder for political gain. On asking whether he would agree to apologise to Lankesh’s family for his remarks, Dadhich said that those who had misrepresented his tweet should apologise instead.

‘PM Modi is Being Targeted Because of Me’

After the furore over his tweet on Gauri Lankesh, Dadhich changed his Twitter profile to remove “Followed by PM”. On being asked why he took that step, he said that he felt hurt that ‘his’ Prime Minister was being targeted because of him. He also added that he has been taught not to disrespect the dead and that his family members are tensed and worried after the controversy.
