“The West Bengal Trinamool Congress (TMC) government will not last till 2021 state polls, I think it will collapse before that. The internal strife is immense inside the TMC,” BJP National General Secretary and West Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayvargia told The Quint at the BJP headquarters.
Reacting to getting 18 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal, Vijayvargia said he was very happy, “We have got a good vote share in West Bengal and Narendra Modi’s leadership and Amit Shah’s political strategy has been blessed by the people. BJP workers in Bengal worked very hard for this outcome.”
He added that the results proved that people in Bengal want democracy, “This is a warning to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee that there will be democracy and dictatorship will not work. If this dictatorship continues then the people will teach Mamata Banerhee a lesson in the state polls (in 2021).”
When asked why he thought people voted for the BJP, he said, “People want to save West Bengal. Under Mamata Banerjee Bengal is in danger. I think people do not want intruders to come in to Bengal, they want peace and calm. This is not possible with Mamata Banerjee,” he said.
