Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu embarked on an eight-km long roadshow from the Ahmedabad airport to Sabarmati Ashram.

At Sabarmati Ashram, the dignitaries were greeted by women who garlanded them while singing local songs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and his wife Sara paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and turned Bapu’s Charkha. The three also enjoyed flying kites at the ashram.

After their visit to the Sabarmati Ashram, the leaders arrived at the iCreate Center at Ahmedabad’s Deo Dholera Village for its inauguration. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani felicitated the two dignitaries and presented them with traditional artefacts.

"When I went to Israel last year, I made up my mind that this foundation should have more strong relations with Israel. Since then, I was waiting for my friend Benjamin Netanyahu to come to India. He is here and now we are inaugurating this foundation," Modi said.

The Israeli prime minister said he was delighted to be there. He praised PM Modi calling him ‘revolutionary’.

Describing India as a country with a vision, he said both the nations can do more if they work together.

He concluded his speech by saying ‘Jai Hind! Jai Bharat! Jai Israel! Thank you Prime Minister Modi, thank you all!’

The Israeli PM is the third international leader whom Modi is hosting in his home state of Gujarat.
