As 2019 approaches, political intrigue in the country is picking up pace. Everyone wants to know who will win the Lok Sabha elections and who will be the next prime minister.

As the saying goes, the route to power in the country passes through the state of Uttar Pradesh. If the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) join hands, the political scenario across the country will change.

The Formula to Defeat the BJP

In an exclusive interview with The Quint’s editorial director Sanjay Pugalia, SP president and former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said that every possible step will be taken to stop the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and that the SP and the BSP will collaborate to do so.

Yadav said that the BJP can only make tall claims, but not abide by them.

Who Will Combat Modi in 2019?

Yadav said that the BJP has portrayed PM Modi as a larger-than-life character but he has not benefited farmers and others.

He also said that the BJP is the most casteist party in India and slammed their claims of not supporting nepotism.

Demonetisation the Most Corrupt Move

Akhilesh Yadav said that demonetisation was the most corrupt move by the Modi government because the money that people were supposed to pay as taxes got deposited in the banks. He also said that it was a move to benefit the few companies promoting cashless transactions.
