After winning the national award for his debut film, Kothanodi, director Bhaskar Hazarika is back with his second film, and this time, he’s out to shock and awe his audience.

The movie is called Aamis, which means ‘non-vegetarian’ in Assamese. On the surface, it looks like a harmless love story between a paediatrician (Lima Das) and a young PhD student (Arghadeep Baruah) who is researching on the food patterns of the people from the Northeast. Slowly, the narrative enters a darker, more twisted territory and it is nothing like what we have seen so far – a theme that is haunting and explores primal passions delicately and expertly.

Aamis got rave reviews in the festival circuit and the buzz around it has been so good that filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is presenting the film. The film releases across India on 22 November.
