Soon, you’ll get more time delete old WhatsApp messages than what is available right now. This limit is available if the recipient doesn’t read the message because his/her phone is switched off.
This update was shared by WABetaInfo, which is popular for sharing details on upcoming features of the popular messaging platform.
The duration chosen by WhatsApp for the feature is intriguing, but is a major upgrade from the existing limit of 7 minutes.
Having said that, WABetaInfo informed that the user can still delete the message for everyone within 13 hour , 8 minutes and 16 seconds, as long as the recipient will receive your revoke request within the stipulated time frame.
The delete for everyone feature made its debut on the app earlier this year, ensuring that people can remove their goof-up texts sent to a wrong group or person.
According to WABetaInfo, the reason behind increasing the time limit to delete message is to ensure modded users are not able to revoke messages sent weeks, months and years ago. The 'modded users' are those who use modified versions of WhatsApp.
Earlier this month, WhatsApp announced that it is finally ready to store its payment-related data in India.
The Facebook-owned company highlighted that it has set up local systems to make sure that no data has to leave the country’s shores, thereby adhering to the regulation put up by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), with deadline set for 15 October.
