India’s pre-match press conference before the England tie have grabbed headlines for various reasons. Firstly, Virat Kohli officially launched India’s away jersey. He also talked about the selection dilemma India would be in once Bhuvneshwar Kumar is declared as the seamer is recovering well.
The whole set up was for a noble cause with Team India being part of the ‘One day for children’ cause initiated by the International Cricket Council (ICC). With this initiative in mind, the Indian skipper’s pre-match press conference was taken over by the young media manager.
As part of the cause, even the first question for Kohli was asked by a young girl posing as a journalist.
The skipper, after genuinely and patiently listening to the question replied, “Yes Neha, thank you for the lovely question. Yes, we are very excited. It’s a very special occasion. First time that it’s been done, and we are proud that we are part of such a special game, and I hope all of you are excited as well.”
#OneDay4Children, will be using the reach of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 to help children learn play and be healthy. The money raised will support UNICEF’s work for children in cricket playing nations across the world. #OneDay4Children had planned activities throughout all 48 matches of the competition, but the celebration will reach its peak during the England v India game on Sunday, 30 June at Edgbaston
While Team India is yet to lose a match in the ongoing World Cup, the English side are on the brink of a possible elimination after losing back-to-back matches against Sri Lanka and Australia.
