Jofra Archer was left off England's preliminary 15-man squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup, a month after the paceman qualified to play for the country on residency rules.

Archer, who was born in Barbados but has an English father and British passport, completed a three-year qualification period on 17 March.

He has earned his maiden ODI call-up for England's warm-up games against Pakistan and Ireland, where impressive performances could yet earn him a late spot in the World Cup squad.

England play Ireland on 3 May, and then begin a five-match ODI series against Pakistan on 8 May.

There were no major surprises in the squad, which is unchanged from the winter series against West Indies.

In the press release on Wednesday, the board also said the players selected in the squads, who are currently playing in the Indian Premier League, will have to return to England on or before 26 April.

England will finalise their final 15-man World Cup squad after the five-match ODI Series against Pakistan, which ends on Sunday, 19 May.

The squad can be changed up to a week before the World Cup starts on 30 May.
