Pakistan registered their second loss in the 2019 World Cup as they went down to Australia by 41 runs in Taunton. They were in the game briefly when Sarfaraz Ahmed and Wahad Riaz were going great guns but were bowled out at the end for 266 in the 46th over.
Pakistan’s poor fielding was on show once again as they missed a handful of catches which they rued at the end of the game. Australia, on the other hand, came out with a positive intent after being bowled out for 307 after they were 146 for 1.
It was a game in which Pakistan managed to keep themselves alive despite their abrupt fielding in the first innings and their lacklusture batting in the second, but ultimately didn’t finish on the right side of the result.
Cricket fans were critical of Pakistan’s performance and shared their opinion on Twitter. Here’s how they reacted.
Meanwhile, Australia was praised for a fighting performance in a game that was turned around by their bowlers.
Australia play Sri Lanka next at The Oval on 15 June while Pakistan face India in Manchester on 16 June.
