Edson Arantes do Nascimento also known as Pele turns 78 today. One of the greatest football players of all time mesmerised the world during his professional career from 1956 to 1977.
The Brazilian, who played for the clubs – Santos and New York Cosmos, earned 92 caps for his national team. He scored 77 goals for Brazil and was part of three FIFA World Cup winning teams (1958, 1962, 1970).
Pele played 638 matches for Santos, scoring 619 goals and he scored 31 goals in 56 matches for New York Cosmos.
