“India-Pakistan matches are always exciting, and since we’re on the winning side it feels good,” said Kedar Jadhav after defending champions India won their second-straight game in the Asia Cup on Wednesday, 19 September.

After bowling Pakistan out for 162 in 43.1 overs, India reached their target with 21 overs to spare, courtesy captain Rohit Sharma’s half-century and Shikhar Dhawan’s 46.

Kedar Jadhav returned with figures of 3/23, his best figures in one-day internationals.

Honestly, I bowl one or two overs in the practice session before the match, but I don’t usually bowl in the nets. I feel if I try to practice too much, I might lose what I already have.

Having undergone surgery after suffering a grade-2 hamstring tear in April, Jadhav believes his fitness level is now better than before.

“I feel my fitness has improved after my surgery, and in the last four months I have learnt a lot about training and fitness,” he said. “It has definitely helped me and has made me a different cricketer.

Every time I did my rehab previously, I used to start playing, (thinking) that the problems won’t come back again. Many a time I also used to miss my routine, but now, regardless of how I feel, I start my day with either gym or running. That gives me confidence that I’m getting stronger and fitter every day, and that helps me on the field.
