Rishabh Pant | Might Airlift Him to Delhi for Plastic Surgery: DDCA Director

Having sustained injuries on his head, back and legs in an accident, cricketer Rishabh Pant was rushed to Saksham Hospital, from where he was later transferred to Dehradun's Max Hospital on Friday, 30 December.

On Saturday morning, a team of Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) left for Dehradun to check on the cricketer's health.

News agency ANI quoted DDCA Director Shyam Sharma as saying, "If required we'll shift him to Delhi & chances are high that we'll airlift him to Delhi for plastic surgery."

According to a statement issued by BCCI's secretary, Jay Shah, on Friday afternoon, Pant sustained 'two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee, hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and suffered abrasion injuries on his back.' Fortunately, his condition remains stable.

"The BCCI is in constant touch with Rishabh’s family while the Medical Team is in close contact with the doctors currently treating Rishabh. The Board will see to it that Rishabh receives the best possible medical care and gets all the support he needs to come out of this traumatic phase," the statement further read.

News agency ANI reported on Friday that Pant's brain and spinal cord MRI results came out normal.

According to news agency ANI, Uttarakhand DGP has remarked that the Haryana Roadways driver and other locals who helped the cricketer will be rewarded by the government under the 'Good Samaritan' scheme.

Rishabh Communicating With Doctors, To Undergo MRI Scans

BCCI have also stated that the Haridwar-born player will undergo MRI scans at the Max Hospital, in order to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment.

As per Dr Ashish Yagnik of Max Hospital, the player has been kept under the supervision of an orthopaedic and a plastic surgeon. He remains conscious and is communicating with the doctors.

Speaking to the media, Superintendent of Police Dehat Swapan Kishore Singh said Pant was traveling alone to his house in Roorkee, with the intention of surprising his mother. The cricketer dozed off before the incident took place.
