Returning from an injury to compete in her second Asian Games campaign, Saikhom Mirabai Chanu has finished fourth in the women's 49kg weightlifting event.

The silver medallist from Tokyo Olympics recorded 83kg in snatch, with two unsuccessful attempts at lifting 86kg. In clean & jerk, she started off with a successful lift of 108kg, but was then unsuccessful in the next two attempts of lifting 117kg.

Recording a total of 191kg, Mirabai Chanu finishes fourth, behind Thailand's Thanyathon Sukchareon, who claims the last place on the podium with a total of 199kg.

In the final tie between India's Abhay Singh and Pakistan's Noor Zaman, the former won the first game, before the latter made a comeback by winning the next two games.

India have won a gold medal in squash, and in some fashion! Abhay Singh came from behind in his tie against Noor Zaman on multiple occasions, but never gave up. The Pakistani player too deserves credit for putting up a great fight, but ultimately, Abhay's resilience puts India on the first place in the podium.

India started the game on the backfoot, with Mahesh Mangaonkar losing the first match. Saurav Ghosal had a comfortable victory in his tie, but the same cannot be said about Abhay Singh. Noor Zaman gave him a run for his all his worth, and was looking likely to secure a gold medal for Pakistan. Albeit, it was not to be, for Abhay scripted what has been a remarkable comeback to win India's 10th gold medal.

Asian Games 2023 Live Updates Day 7: Badminton Update

In badminton, the men's team – who have assured a medal after a long wait of 37 years – are currently in action in their semi-final tie against South Korea.

In the first match, HS Prannoy defeated Jeon Hyeok-jin. Currently, the men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are playing against Seo Seung-jae and Kang Min-hyuk.
