The men's badminton team has assured at least a bronze medal by qualifying for the semi-final. In their quarter-final match, they defeated Nepal by a 3-0 margin, with all of Lakshya Sen, Mithun Manjunath and Kidambi Srikanth winning their respective matches.

With this the men's badminton team have secured a medal in Asian Games after a prolonged wait of 37 years. In the semi-final, India will take on the winner of the match Indonesia and South Korea.

Track and field athlete Aishwarya Mishra has qualified for the final round of women's 400m. The 26-year-old, who won a silver medal at the Indian Grand Prix in Trivandrum earlier this year, finished second in her heat round, with a season best timing of 52.73.

Nikhat Zareen has assured at least a bronze medal, by qualifying the semi-final of women's 45-50kg category. In her quarter-final bout, the world champion defeated Jordan Hanan Nassar in only 53 seconds, via RSC (referee stops count).
