Asian Games 2023 Live Updates, Day 3: Hello and welcome to our live blog on the 3rd day of the 2023 Asian Games at Hangzhou, China. Stay tuned for all the live updates of the events taking place today.
Equestrian is underaway and the Indian athletes participating in the Dressage - Team Final and Individual Qualification events are Hriday Chheda, Anush Agarwalla, Sudipti Hajela, and Divyakriit Singh, who are currently participating.
With 11 medals so far in their bag including 2 gold, three silver and six bronze, the Indian team ranks sixth in the 2023 Asian Games standings.

With 66.706 points to her name, India's Sudipti Haleja is placed second in the standing, behind Korea's Hyeok Kim (66.765).

The Indian fencer has now won four group stages matches in a row. To keep her winning streak intact, she defeated Uzbek fencer Zaynab Dayibekova 5-1 after getting the better of Kazakh fencer Karina Dospay (5-3) to secure her third victory of the day.
After placing sixth in the mixed team 10m air rifle event with atotal score of 628.2, Ramita and Divyansh Singh Panwar advanced to the final.
They'll now face Korea in the 10m air rifle final (bronze medal match) which will start at 8:40 AM IST.
Shifting focus to the 25m Pistol Women's Qualification, India's Esha Singh (243-8x ) and Rhythm Sangwan (242-5x) are placed third and sixth in the standings.
India men's hocket team are leading 6-0 over Singapore in their Pool A match and the referee has called for half-time.
Shooting: With a sub-total of 292 points and a total of 292-9x Esha Singh is leading the standings whereas with a sub-total of 290 and a total of 290-6x Rhythm has slipped to the 8th place in the 25m pistol women's qualification.
Fencing: Bhavani Devi completes the group stage with five out of five victories as in her fifth match, she won over Roksana Khatun of Bangladesh 5-1. She receives a bye and advances directly to the round of 16 as a result of being the top seed for the knockout stage.
The Indian women's squash team has taken a 1-0 lead over Pakistan in the Pool B team event with Anahat Singh defeating Sadia Gul 3-0. Joshna Chinappa is up next.
Squash: The second match between India vs Pakistan - Joshna Chinappa vs Noor Ul Huda Sadiq is currently underway.
In the Dressage Prix St-Georges, Divyakriti Singh of India earned a score of 68.176 while Sudipti Hajela registered a score of 66.706.
Judo: India's Avtar Singh has defeated Kittipong Hantratin of Thailand to adavance to the 100kg quarterfinals. In the matchup for the semifinals, Avtar will take on Dzhafar Kostoev of the United Arab Emirates.
In the women's category, Tulika Maan, too, has advanced to the quarterfinals in the +78kg division after defeating Lai Qing Lam of Macao, China. She will take om Japan's Tomita Wakaba.
Hockey: India have defeated Singapore 16-1 to register yet another emphatic victory.
Fencing: Bhavani Devi has defeated Thai fencer Tonkhaw Phokaew 15-9 to advance to the quarterfinals of the women’s sabre individual event.
Squash: After Anahat, Joshana also seals a straight-set victory to beat Pakistan's Noor Ul Huda Sadiq 3-0 (11-2, 11-5, 11-7). With this, the Indian team registered an absolute 2-0 victory over Pakistan in the Women's Squash team event.
The last round, a dead rubber, will take place between Tanvi Khanna and Noor Ul Ain Ijaz.
Shooting: The second bronze medal match between India and Korea is underway. The Indian pair of Divyansh Singh Panwar and Ramita will be up against Hajun Park and Eunseo Lee.

And with this, Republic of Korea have won the bronze medal match.
The Indian pair of Divyansh Singh Panwar and Ramita had taken an 8-0 lead in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed team match but the Koreans fought back in style. The last few series were tied in dramatic fashion before the 19th series finally gave us the winner.
The Koreans held their nerve to shoot 10.8 and 10.7 and the two Indians managed just 10.6 each.
Squash: India whitewash Pakistan 3-0 in their opening Pool B fixture. After Anahat and Joshana won their ties with ease Tanvi Khanna has also closed a 3-0 straight games victory over Noor Ul Ain Ijaz.
The Indian team will next be in action on Wednesday against Nepal.
Squash: India beat Singapore by 2-0 in the Poll A match of the Men's Squash team event as Harinder Pal Singh and Sourav Ghosal beat their opponents by 3-1 and 3-0 respectively.
Swimming: With a timing of 3:40.84 seconds, the Indian men's 4x100m medley relay team of Srihari Nataraj, Likith Selvaraj, Sajan Prakash, and Tanish Mathew created a national record. They have been placed fourth overall in the heats and have advanced to the final.
The final will take place at 6:31 PM IST today.
Fencing: Bhavani Devi has lost against China's Shao Yaqi 7-15 in the women's sabre solo event quarterfinals.
Judo: After winning the elimination rounds earlier today, both Tulika Maan and Avtar Singh lost their respective individual Judo quarterfinals.
While Tulika lost 10-0 to Japan's Tomita Wakabad, Avtar Singh didn't appear for his last-eight bout, thus, making UAE's Dzhafar Kostoev the winner.
In tennis, Ankita Raina has moved into the fourth round of the women’s singles event following a 6-1, 6-2 win over Adithya Patali of Hong Kong.
Judo: In the women's +78kg category, Tulika Maan has defeated Chinese Taipei’s Jia Wen Tsai 10-0 and has advanced to the bronze medal bout.
Shooting: In the 25m Pistol Women Precision stage qualification, India's Manu Bhaker has been placed on top with a sub-total of 294 points while Esha Singh has secured the third place with 292 points to her credit.
Rhythm Sangwan is sitting at the 11th place.
Shooting: With a total of 876 points, the Indian trio of Esha Singh, Manu Bhaker and Rhythm Sangwan has finished first in the 25m Pistol Team Women.
Bhaker and Esha will be in action in the rapid and medals round tomorrow.
Sailing: With a net total of 27 points after 11 races, Neha Thakur, 17-year-old sailor, bagged silver in the Girl's Dinghy ILCA4 competition. Noppassorn Khunboonjan of Thailand won the gold medal with 16 points, and Keira Marie Carlyle of Singapore claimed third place with 28.
After falling to Philippines' Alex Eala 6-7(5), 2-6 in the third round, Rutuja Bhosale is eliminated from the women's singles competition.
In Street Fighter V, India's Ayan Biswas registerd a 2-0 win over Saudi Arabian competitor.
Esports: Yeh Man Ho of Hong Kong defeated Ayan Biswan 0-2 in the third round of "Street Fighter V: Champion Edition."
Esports: India's Mayank Prajapati lost both of his matches in Street Fighter V.
Tennis: In a three-set match lasting two hours and forty minutes, Japan's second seed Yosuke Watanuki defeated India's Ramkumar Ramanathan 5-7, 7-6(3), and 5-7.
Boxing: India’s Sachin Siwach is up against Indonesia’s Asri Udin in the men’s 57kg category in round of 32.
Boxing: With a 5-0 verdict, India's Sachin has advanced to the 16th round of men's 57kg as he defeated Indonesian boxer Asir Udin.
Focus shifts to chess as Uzbek GM Nilufar Yakubbaeva is facing Indian GM Koneru Humpy, and the Vietnamese GM Thi Kim Phung Vo is pitted against Indian GM Harika Dronavalli.
In the men's category, Arjun Erigasi is up against Javokhir Sindarov of Uzbekistan, while Vidit Gujarathi is facing Parham Maghsoudloo of Iran.
Sailing: Another medal for India has come from sailing as Eabad Ali has finished third in the men’s windsurfer RS:X event with a net total of 52 points after fourteen races to win the bronze.
GOLD MEDAL ALERT!
India have won their third gold medal in 2023 Asian Games, and it has come in equestrian. The dressage team of Divyakriti Singh, Sudipti Haleja, Hriday Chedda and Anush Agarwalla have secured a gold medal with a score of 209.205, finishing ahead of China and Hong Kong.
The sixth round of men's and women's individual chess has recently concluded, with the Indians doing a fairly decent job.
In women's individual, Koneru Humpy played out a draw against Indonesia's Medina Warda Aulia, but it is enough to climb up to the third position on the standings. Harika Dronavalli, meanwhile, is placed fifth following her draw with Kazakhstan's Zhansaya Abdumalik.
In men's individual chess, Indian Grandmaster Vidit Gujarathi is currently leading the charts, firmly poised for a gold medal after the first six rounds. In the sixth round, he defeated Uzbekistan's Nordibek Abdusattorov.
The other Indian participant, Arjun Erigaisi suffered a defeat against Mongolia's Bilguun Sumiya, and as a result, has dropped down to the 11th place in the standings.
Meanwhile in tennis, Sumit Nagal has qualified for the quarter-final of men's singles, courtesy of a 7-6, 6-4 triumph over his Kazakh opponent, Beibit Zhukayev. In the next round, he will be up against China's Zhang Zhizhen.
After a fantastic start to their campaign, which included wins over Chinese Taipei and South Korea, the Indian men's volleyball team's campaign comes to a rather unceremonious conclusion. In the 5th-place playoff battle against Pakistan, India went down 0-3.

In men's singles, Sumit Nagal qualified for the quarter-final. On the other hand, Ramkumar Ramanathan lost against Yosuke Watanuki.
In mixed doubles, India 2 (Ankita Raina & Rohan Bopanna) defeated Pakistan 2 to qualify for the third round.
Ankita Raina qualified for the quarter-final of women's doubles by beating Hong Kong's Adithya Patali Karuraratne. Rutuja Bhosale, however, lost against Alex Eala.
In women's doubles, India 1 (Ankita Raina & Prarthana Thombare) lost against the Thai pairing of Anchisa Chanta and Punnin Kovapitukted.
India 2 (Karman Kaur Thandi & Rutuja Bhosle) also lost their tie against Hong Kong 1.
Indian swimmers Aryan Nehra and Kushagra Rawat, who had qualified for the final round of men's 1500m freestyle, have finished on the 7th and 8th place respectively.
Aryan clocked a timing of 15:20.91, 25.44s behind China's Liwei Fei, who won the gold medal. Kushagra's timing was 15:44.61.
It has been a fruitful day for the squash contingent, which is looking likely to conclude with with a triumph over Qatar in men's team category. Earlier, the men's team – comprising Saurav Ghosal, Abhay Singh, Harinder Pal Sandhu and Mahesh Mangaonkar – had defeated Singapore 3-0.
Up next, India will take on Pakistan and Nepal in their next two group stage matches.
Indian boxer Narender has booked his place in the quarter-finals of men's +92kg category, courtesy of a win over Krygyzstan's Oomatbek Elchoro Uulu in the round of 16. The 28-year-old, who won a bronze medal at the Asian Boxing Championships last year, defeated his opponent via Knockout.
In the next round, he will face Iran's Iman Ramezanpour Delavar.
Bronze medallist at the last Asian Games, Surya Bhanu Partap Singh will not be adding to his tally, as he has been handed a defeat in the quarter-final of men's 60kg category. Up against South Korea's Minsoo Kim, the 27-year-old from Jammu & Kashmir lost 0-2.
An impressive showing from the Indian men's 4x100m medley relay team sees them finishing on the fifth position. The quartet of Srihari Nataraj, Likith SP, Sajan Prakash and Tanish George clocked a timing of 3:40.20, whereas South Korea, who occupied the last place on the podium, registered 3:32.52.
In chess, Vidit Gujarathi has been dethroned from his first place on the men's individual standings, after he suffered a defeat against China's Yi Wei in the seventh round. He is currently holding on to the third place.
Meanwhile, his Indian compatriot, Arjun Erigaisi defeated Indonesia's Novendra Priasmoro to climb up three places on the standings. He is currently placed on the eighth position.
In women's individual, both Indian Grandmasters, Koneru Humpy and Harika Dronavalli played out draws in Round 7.
Koneru drew against Kazakhstan's Zhansaya Abdumalik, which places her on the fifth position on the standings. She is followed by Harika on the sixth place, who drew against Mongolia's Munkhzul Turmunh.
India's wushu campaign on Day 3 has concluded with a defeat for Suraj Yadav. The athlete from Varanasi was up against an Asian Games bronze medallist in Afghanistan's Khalid Hotak, and ended up getting defeated by a knockout.
With this, all of India's men Sanda participants have been eliminated, although Roshibina Devi Naorem had earlier qualified for the semi-final.
CLARIFICATION
Initially assumed to have already won a bronze medal in Men's Dinghy ICLA7 category, Vishnu Saravanan will be competing in a medal race tomorrow, the Yachting Association of India have confirmed.
Vishnu is placed third on the overall standings after 11 races, but that does not guarantee him a medal.
Another sailor, Nethra Kumanan will be competing for the medal in ICLA6. She is currently in fourth place.
