Actor Kangana Ranaut, veteran TV and theatre actor Sarita Joshi and singer Adnan Sami were honoured with the Padma Shri on Monday, 8 November, in Delhi at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Noted Hindustani classical singer Pandit Chhannulal Mishra received the Padma Vibhushan.

The Padma Awards 2020 were presented by President Ram Nath Kovind.

Kangana wore a green and golden saree for the occasion. Sami chose a black sherwani with golden embroidery at the neck.

Other recipients of the Padma Shri this year from the world of arts are Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor and late singer SP Balasubramaniam.

Speaking about the Padma Shri win Ekta Kapoor said in a statement, "It is an honour to receive the Fourth Highest Civilian Award for my humble contribution in the field of performing arts. It is a surreal moment and a matter of great pride. I want to dedicate this badge of honour to my two pillars of strength - my mom and dad. They believed in me with their whole heart and it is because of them, I am who I am.”

She added, "I am overwhelmed with all the love coming my way. I want to thank my family, friends, my team at Balaji Telefilms and most importantly the audience, for believing in me and supporting me".
