In Pics: Delhi’s Vijay Chowk Lights Up for Beating Retreat

Three days after India celebrated the 70th Republic Day, the streets of the national capital were once again lit on Tuesday, 29 January, for the ‘Beating Retreat’ ceremony at Vijay Chowk.

As part of the tradition, President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and chief of three armed services were present for the ceremony.

The ceremony included performances by Army, Navy, Air Force, State Police and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel. There were also 15 military bands, and 15 other bands from regimental centres and battalions.
