It’s day four after the effective revocation of Article 370 and the streets of Jammu and Kashmir lie empty, as people stay locked in their houses and security personnel stand guard.
After imposing Section 144 in the state on 4 August, the Modi-led government effectively revoked Article 370 through a Presidential Order on 5 August. A strict curfew has been in place for the past few days but was relaxed for Friday prayers on 9 August.
