The speaker and the deputy speaker of the Pakistan National Assembly tendered their resignations shortly before the vote was initiated. This came after the Pakistan National Assembly's session was adjourned till 9:30 pm, but resumed only at around 11:45 pm, shortly before the court’s 9 April deadline for the vote.

Imran Khan addressed the nation late on Friday evening and said he was disappointed by the Supreme Court verdict.
"I respect the Supreme Court and the judiciary, but the apex court should have looked at the threat letter before issuing the verdict," he said.
Khan complained that the Supreme Court did not take the matter of the “threat letter” seriously.
Imran Khan said there is rampant horse-trading in the Opposition camp.
"Which country's democracy allows these kinds of acts? I'm not anti-American but we don't need a one-sided relationship. Look at India,no one can dictate to India on their foreign policy (the way they dictate to us)."
Citing the example of Indians as being “self respecting” (khuddar qaum), Khan in his Friday evening’s address said no world power can dictate terms to them.
Further, he said:
“I will not accept this imported government, I will take to street….Only people can bring me to power and I will come back with the help of the people.”
According to Pakistan media, members of the National Assembly have started to arrive at Parliament House ahead of the no-trust vote.
The no-confidence vote against Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan began in the parliament on Saturday, 9 April.
Foreign Minister and PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi are present in the National Assembly.
Shahbaz Sharif, leader of Opposition in Pakistan National Assembly has urged the speaker to “carry out today's proceedings as per the Supreme Court order” and to stand for the Constitution and law.
Addressing the National Assembly, Foreign Minister and PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi, reportedly said:
"It is the constitutional right of the Opposition to move a no-confidence motion against the government, and it's the government's duty to defend it."

Leader of Opposition Shehbaz Sharif addresses the Pakistan National Assembly after the results of the no-trust vote were declared, hailing the deseating of Imran Khan as a new chapter for Pakistan.
Sharif is likely to succeed Khan as the new PM of Pakistan. "We will not take any revenge, or put any innocent people in jails. But law will take its course," Sharif said in his speech, noting that the new alliance will rebuild Pakistan.
"This is a day to smile," he said.

The Pakistan National Assembly was adjourned and the House will meet again on 11 April at 2 pm to elect a new PM.
Ayaz Sadiq of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, who chaired the no-trust vote session, said the nomination papers for the new PM may be submitted by 2 PM on 10 April and the scrutiny would be done by 3 PM.
