CLAIM
A video doing the rounds on social media claims that it shows the packaging of Tata Salt allegedly being done under unhygienic conditions. The video shows several packets of Tata Salt lying on the floor and the packaging being done manually.
Several social media users have shared the video on Facebook and Twitter with a similar claim.
The Quint received a query on the claim made in the video via its WhatsApp helpline.
WHAT’S THE TRUTH?
While the video has not been tampered with, the claim along with it is false. Tata Salt issued a clarification on their official Facebook page and mentioned that the video is actually of a raid that was conducted by the Tata Salt team and Punjab Police on 10 October, in a factory against “counterfeit salt operations” in Mohali’s Dera Bassi area.
