A video of Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra standing and smiling among a group of sloganeering children sloganeering has gone viral.
The video begins with a man yelling “Chowkidaar”, to which the children are seen enthusiastically responding “chor hai”, as Priyanka looks on.
The sloganeering then segues into another slogan, where the children use expletives, to which Vadra is seen raising her hand to her mouth in shock.
The video has been captioned: “बच्चों को कैसी भाषा सीखा रही है कांग्रेस
मोदी से नफरत में बच्चों को तो मत बर्बाद करो”
(Translated: “What language is the Congress teaching children? In you hate Modi, at least don’t ruin children.”)
The same video clip has been circulated with multiple claims. Some of the claims suggest Vadra did not condemn the children when they raised abusive slogans, and was actually cheering the children on to raise the ‘Chowkidaar chor hai’ slogan.
Smriti Irani also shared the video on Twitter, lambasting the sloganeering and the language.
This has also been shared by various users on Twitter.
Times Now also reported on the same viral video.
TRUE OR FALSE?
The viral video is a clipped version of a longer video. In the full video, Priyanka Gandhi stops the children after they raise the abusive slogan.
The full video can be seen below.
The video is from when Priyanka Gandhi was in Amethi on Tuesday, 30 April.
The video starts with the children chanting “chowkidar chor hai” and then shows the children using abusive language. They can be heard saying, “Neem ka patta kadva hai, Modi s***a b****a hai.”
But, India Today reported the full video where Priyanka Gandhi and others immediately tell the children, “ये वाला नहीं, ये अच्छा नहीं लगता। अच्छे बच्चे बनो।”
(Translated: “Not this one, this is not nice. Be good children.”)
The children start chanting “Rahul Gandhi zindabad” after that.
The clipped video does not show Priyanka Gandhi stopping the children after they raise the objectionable slogan, discouraging them from using such words.
Her brother and Congress President Rahul Gandhi had earlier gotten into trouble for attributing the “chowkidar chor hai” slogan to the Supreme Court at a rally.
Priyanka Gandhi responded to the claims being made about her not stopping the children from sloganeering.
