CLAIM

A video, viral on the social media, claims that a Pakistani flag was raised at a Congress victory rally in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur district in Teori village.

The video is going viral on social media with the following message:

"कांग्रेस की जीत पे पाकिस्तान का झंडा लहराते हुए
मूर्ख हिन्दूओ भविष्य मे बहुत पछताओगे।"

In English this reads, “stupid Hindus who waved the Pakistan flag after the Congress win in Rajasthan, you will repent in the future”.

The video appears to have gone viral over the last 24 hours.

TRUE OR FALSE?

The flag seen in the video is not of Pakistan.

While the green-coloured Pakistan flag has a crescent and star with a white stripe on the left side, the flag in the video, although green, appears to have minarets in the center and white stripes on both sides.

There also appears to be some sort of inscription in the flag - written in red and blue.

However, while the person behind the camera in the video claims that the video was shot in Teori, when The Quint reached out to a resident of Teori, 45-year-old Bodhi Lal, who denied that any rally of such nature had been held at the village. The Jodhpur police The Quint spoke to, also denied reports of a Pakistan flag having been raised at a rally in the village.

In a tweet, the Rajasthan police also called the video “false”.

SIMILAR CLAIMS IN THE PAST

Similar claims have often made their way into social media in the past, particularly in the run up to the elecitons in the state to further a political agenda.

For instance, senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot was targetted earlier this month over a similar claim, that pakistan flags were waved at his Jodhpur rally.

However, on close inspection it was discerned that the flag was a generic flag used by the Muslim community, and not Pakistan's national flag.
