WHAT’S THE TRUTH?

On listening to the video carefully, we could hear a man saying ‘yeh simrahi mein pakda gaya hai’ (Translation: he was caught in Simrahi). Madhya Pradesh’s Simrahi village comes under the jurisdiction of Mandideep police station.

An official in the Mandideep police station told The Quint that the incident took place around 15 days ago and that the man seen in the video is mentally challenged.

“This man had not kidnapped any child. After we reached the spot and identified that he is mentally challenged, we admitted him to the hospital. No FIR was filed. We couldn’t confirm the man’s name as he couldn’t answer properly. Even the public understood that he is mentally challenged.”
