Artificial Intelligence has for long been a territory of immense human interest. Recently, a video has gone viral which raised concerns regarding the developments in the field.

CLAIM

A video of an armed robot being trained for war is doing the rounds on social media. The video shows humans hitting the robot with different weapons as a part of training it to react in different situation during a war.

The robot, armed with a multiple weapons, can be seen hitting different targets one at a time and learning how to differentiate between a human and a mannequin.

MATTER OF CONCERN?

Social media users were quick to express their concern regarding a training like this, saying that the process might eventually harm the human race.

Businessman and RPG Group Chairperson Harsh Goenka also shared the video on Twitter with a caption, “The real question in humans vs machines is not if the machines can think well? (sic)”

TECHNOLOGY THAT KILLED BAGHDADI?

The video is also viral on Facebook with a claim that it shows a real US Delta force Robot Training practice used in the operation to kill ISIS chief Al Baghdadi in Syria.

TRUE OR FALSE?

The Quint could verify that the video is not real but a parody film made using Computer Generated Graphics (CGI).

The parody was uploaded on YouTube by Corridor Digital, a Los Angeles-based production studio known for creating pop-culture-related viral online short-form videos.

WHAT WE FOUND

A closer look at the video reveals the watermark of ‘Bosstown Dynamics’.

A Google keyword search of Bosstown Dynamics directed us to the original video uploaded by Corridor Digital.

We also came across another video uploaded on another channel called ‘Corridor Crew’, in which the team explains how they made the video using motion capture.
