TRUE OR FALSE?

The video is real, but the claim it’s being shared with is completely false. The video is actually four months old and it shows a mock drill by the state police in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.

WHAT WE FOUND

On breaking down the video into several keyframes using the Invid Google Chrome extension, we came across a video on Youtube which had mentioned that the video was actually of a mock drill.

On looking for news reports using keywords ‘ambaji temple gujarat mock drill’ we came across a few news reports which had covered the incident.

According to a report in Dainik Bhaskar, Banaskantha district police organised a mock drill in the run up to the Lok Sabha elections in Ambaji Temple in Gujarat. During the mock drill, which lasted for an hour, the police killed one terrorist and arrested another one. Other than Gujarat police, men from the bomb squad and Quick Response Team (QRT) were also involved.

The Quint also used the same keywords on YouTube and came across a news bulletin which carried the same news report. According to a statement given by the police in this bulletin, the men disguised as terrorists.
