TRUE OR FALSE?
The Quint was able to confirm that although a blast did occur on the premises of a mosque in the Mochi Tola area of Sasaram Town, no explosives were recovered by the police. Also, the blast did not occur inside the mosque but on the campus outside the mosque.
WHAT WE FOUND
The incident was widely reported by the local media, including Dainik Jagran and The Telegraph. A report by The Telegraph quotes the Sasaram Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) who told them that the blast occurred when one of the labourers cleaning the spot accidentally set some garbage on fire.
The Quint also reached out to the SHO of Sasaram who informed us that the incident took place outside the mosque building and one worker was injured. He also told us that no explosives have been recovered from the spot.
Speaking to The Quint, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Hriday Kant said: “It seems some explosive substance was hidden in the garbage and the man who set it on fire sustained serious injuries, while the other two escaped unhurt.”
The police also told us that the blast occurred in a hall behind the mosque which is used for community service purposes. We were also informed that investigation is underway to find out who planted the bomb at the location.
