"Assured the family members that in this heinous incident, we will ensure that the victim's family gets speedy justice and the perpetrators get the harshest punishment. The government will not spare anyone," he said in a tweet.
The chief minister was accompanied by senior officials, such as Minister of State for Home Rajendra Yadav, Chief Secretary Usha Sharma, Director General of Police (DGP) ML Lather and others.
"Our police did a good job. They arrested the accused and found international links, which is why the NIA (National Investigation Agency) came into the picture. We'll appeal to take this case via fast track. We want NIA to be time-bound and punish the guilty within a month. We'll cooperate with them," Gehlot said after meeting the family, as per news agency ANI.
Gehlot had arrived in the city via a special plane around 1 pm to meet Lal's family.
The two persons accused of the murder – Gaus Mohammad and Mohammad Riyaz Akhtari – have been arrested.
Meanwhile, the tailor's son Yash said that CM Gehlot had offered the family financial assistance, and him a government job.
"I have spoken with the CM. He has provided us financial help. He has also assured me of a government job. He is cooperating with us, and we are ready to cooperate too," Yash said.
He also said that the family demanded security for themselves, and reiterated the demand for the culprits to be given the death penalty.
Since the murder took place, there has been heavy police presence across the city to ensure law and order. Two additional director generals, one deputy inspector general, and other senior police officials have been camping in Udaipur over the last few days.
Lal was cremated in Udaipur on Wednesday in the presence of a large number of people, including his relatives and locals, amid a curfew in different parts of the city.
Anguished by Lal's murder, his wife said, "We demand that those people who murdered him should be hanged to death, we demand their death sentence and need justice."
During his cremation, slogans of 'Kanhaiya Lal Amar Rahe' could be heard in the area.
Mobile internet services were also suspended in all 33 districts of Rajasthan.
