The Delhi Police has named AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and Hindutva leader Yati Narasinghanand in a First Information Report (FIR) registered over alleged inflammatory remarks.
The police filed two FIRs over inflammatory remarks after social media analysis.
Tweeting an excerpt from the FIR, which named him and 30 others, Owaisi wrote, "This is the first FIR I've seen that's not specifying what the crime is." He also stated that he did not know which remarks of his attracted the FIR.
The FIRs have been registered by the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operation (IFSO) unit of the Special Cell.
The saffron party had earlier taken action against Sharma and Kumar after several nations were angered by the derogatory comments they made against Prophet Muhammad.
Meanwhile, Thane's Bhiwandi City Police on Thursday summoned Naveen Jindal, asking him to appear before it on 15 June.
A case was registered against him at the Bhiwandi Police Station under IPC Section 295(A) (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings).
In a long Twitter thread, Owaisi posted a series of comments regarding the case against him. "It appears that Delhi Police lacks the courage to pursue cases against Yati, Nupur Sharma & Naveen Jindal etc. This is why the delayed & weak response," he said.
"In fact Yati has violated his bail conditions repeatedly by inciting genocide against Muslims & insulting Islam 3. Delhi Police were probably trying to think of a way of registering an FIR against these people without offending Hindutvadi fanboys/girls," he wrote.
"In contrast, Muslim students, journalists, activists have been put in prison for l the crime of merely being Muslim," he alleged.
"In my case, FIR isn’t even saying WHAT was offensive," he stated.
Hindu Mahasabha office bearer Pooja Shakun Pandey is also among those named. Earlier, an FIR was filed in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh for her alleged controversial remarks against a particular community on Monday.
Maulana Mufti Nadeem from Rajasthan, Abdur Rehman, Anil Kumar Meena, Gulzar Ansari, Shadab Chauhan, the chief spokesperson of Peace Party, and journalist Saba Naqvi have also been named in the FIR.
The Delhi Police said on Wednesday that they have registered a case against some people who are allegedly spreading "messages of hate, inciting various groups and creating situations which is detrimental for the maintenance of public tranquility."
Meanwhile, 33 people were detained by the police after AIMIM workers staged protests against the booking of Owaisi at the Parliament Street in Delhi. An FIR has been registered under IPC section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), as per the police.
