Cong Questions Naga Accord as 11 Including MLA Killed in Arunachal

In 2015, the BJP government signed the Naga accord with the NSCN(IM).

In the backdrop of the killing of at least 11 people, including Triong Aboh, an Arunachal Pradesh MLA, on Tuesday, 22 May, the Congress party has raised questions on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s policy and administration.

Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel, in a tweet, slammed the BJP government on the Naga accord signed with NSCN(IM) in 2015.

The attack that took place near Bogapani village in Arunachal Pradesh, is suspected to be carried out by NSCN militants, according to the police.

The party’s spokesperson Randeep Surjewala also blamed the BJP’s ‘misrule’ for ‘insurgency’ in the Northeast.

The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee alleged that the ruling BJP was responsible for the "prevailing lawlessness and chaos" in the state and demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident, reported news agency PTI.

“If elected representatives are not safe under the present dispensations at the Centre and the state, how can common people feel secure,” the party said in a statement.

“Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his BJP government are solely responsible for lawlessness and all chaos in the state," the statement added.
