After a BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh drew severe criticism for calling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati “worse than a eunuch”, former BSP MLA Vijay Yadav has now added to the controversy, saying he will “give Rs 50 lakh to the person who will bring Sadhna Singh’s head” to him.

“BJP MLA Sadhna Singh should seek an apology from Behenji (Mayawati) and the women of the country, else we will protest. After collecting money from my supporters, I will give Rs 50 lakh to the person who will bring Sadhna Singh’s head to me.”

On Saturday, 19 January, Sadhna Singh, the BJP MLA from Mughalsarai, used objectionable language to criticise Mayawati and her alliance with the Samajwadi Party. She referred to the infamous assault on the BSP chief by Samajwadi Party workers in 1995.

She attacked the BSP supremo for aligning with 'men who tried to molest her', therefore, ‘losing her self-esteem in order to come to power’, as quoted by ANI.

“She (Mayawati) has no self-respect... she was almost molested and yet... in history, when Draupadi was molested, she took a vow to seek revenge... but this woman, she lost everything, but still sold her dignity for the sake of power... She is worse than a eunuch. She is neither a man or a woman.”

Later on Sunday, after they drew flak from Opposition leaders as well as allies, Singh apologised for her remarks on the former UP chief minister, saying, “I had no intentions of disrespecting anyone, I express regret if someone was hurt by my words.”

Singh's apology came immediately after a complaint was lodged against her at the Baburi Police Station by a BSP leader who sought that she be booked under the SC/ST Act.
